Synthesis and crystal structure of an ionic phenyltin(iv) complex of <i>N</i>-salicylidene-valine

Abstract Triethylammonium dichloro[ N -[(2-oxyphenyl)methylidene]valinato]-phenyl-tin( iv ) was prepared and characterized by spectroscopic methods single crystal X-ray crystallography. The compound consists of a triethylammonium cation tin complex as anion. is composed tridentate O,N,O -Schiff base ligand coordinated to SnCl 2 Ph unit. atom in distorted octahedral coordination geometry. NMR studies have shown that the unusual hexa-coordinated formed kinetically controlled product. Storage solid product for several years led transformation into thermodynamically stable penta-coordinated complex.
